This week, our Early Years learners had an exciting opportunity to visit a construction site, thanks to the thoughtful organization by K2 parent, Mr. and Mrs. Khandelwal. This enriching field trip provided students with a real-world connection to their current Unit of Inquiry on structures.
All necessary safety measures were in place, ensuring a secure and engaging learning experience. The learners were warmly welcomed and provided with safety helmets, jackets, and escorts to guide them throughout the visit. Mr. and Mrs. Khandelwal went above and beyond to ensure the children’s curiosity was met with meaningful exploration and inquiry.
During the visit, the learners observed how various construction machines, such as excavators and cranes, functioned and contributed to the building process. They also had the opportunity to explore different materials used in construction, guided by the site’s structural manager and team members, who patiently answered all their questions. A highlight of the trip was when the children got to mix and create concrete using a small mixer arranged especially for them—making their learning experience truly hands-on.
This field trip offered invaluable learning moments, allowing students to see firsthand how and why different materials are used in construction. They returned to school with a deeper understanding of structures and a concrete (pun intended!) learning experience.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Khandelwal for their time, effort, and cooperation in making this trip such a success. Your support in creating meaningful learning opportunities for our young inquirers is greatly appreciated!
