Over the years, new boards and curricula get introduced with the purpose of bettering the quality of education for students worldwide. One such board that is benefitting students around the world is the International Baccalaureate (IB). Children who study the IB program are encouraged to think independently and drive their own learning. IB education is replete with innovation with ground-breaking programs like the Middle Years Program that inspires students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
So, what exactly is the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program?
The Middle Years Program (MYP) is a challenging framework that comprises of eight subject groups and aims to provide a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. It is a five-year program that requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the program. The subject groups covered by this program are Language acquisition, Language and literature, Individuals and societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and health education, and Design. To put it simply, the MYP aims to help students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and responsibility towards their community.

Using global contexts, students of this challenging framework develop an understanding of their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet.
