Moving on to the Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Though the PYP operates independently of the other IB programmes, it provides an ideal preparation for students entering the middle years of schooling. At the conclusion of their programme, students will not only have a sound foundation of essential knowledge, skills and attitudes, but also have the ability to reflect on their learning and develop new learning from them.

The Middle Years Programme
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a five-year programme for students aged from 11 to 16. The programme offers an education that is skill based , challenging, creative and flexible and requires a great deal of discipline. It also fosters understanding among young people around the world.

Students at this stage are in a critical phase of personal and intellectual development. This is a time of uncertainty, sensitivity, resistance and questioning. The International Baccalaureate Organization builds its programmes to meet students’ academic needs and also helps students develop a personal value system to guide their own lives.

The programme involves a vigorous and thorough study of various disciplines, emphasizing transdisciplinary study. Concurrently, the MYP respects the independence and integrity of each discipline as students prepare for further study in the various subjects.

The Subject Groups
The eight subjects to be studied ideally match the requirements of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which is also taken by middle years students at Ecole Mondiale World School. The MYP subjects are:
