About
Us
École
Mondiale is a unique school in India, which delivers the complete
range of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes – the Primary Years
Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme
(DP). It is a co-educational day school catering to the needs of the citizens
of Mumbai, the diplomatic and consular corps, multi-national companies and
the expatriate community living in Mumbai. The programmes, from Nursery to
Grade 12, are delivered in English.
École Mondiale is located in the prominent suburb
of Juhu, approximately 30-35 minutes from the city centre and close to the
wide sandy beaches of Mumbai. The school
operates as an International School within the ambit of international education
associations.
It is governed by a Board of Governors comprising men and women of eminence.
Our
Aim
The school provides education that is suited to the needs of the individual.
Teachers, students and the community work together to make a significant contribution
towards the ultimate goal of
producing happy, enlightened and globally-minded citizens.
Our Curriculum
Our
curriculum is designed to be thought-provoking, relevant and international
in its nature. This we achieve for our students by implementing the
IB Programmes which all have the dual aims of helping our students become
better people and life-long learners. Of our programmes, the IB Diploma Programme
is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the
Indian 10 + 2.
École Mondiale also pursues the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) offered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations Syndicate at the end of Grade10. IGCSE is recognized as equivalent to the 10th Standard of Indian School Boards.
Our
Methodology
It is progressive, forward-thinking, and child-centered, using the integrated,
interactive approach. Topics and themes are carefully planned to cross
artificial subject barriers. This enables the student to have a far more realistic
view of the world in which he/she lives and needs to function successfully.
Much of the teaching is based on the assumption that understanding is a fundamental
requirement for any learning to take place. Therefore, much of the work is
based on hands-on experience and research-skills, where the role of the teacher
becomes that of a facilitator. Here, the students take an active part in their
own learning. They are encouraged to use their own initiative and develop
into independent learners with a strong desire to think critically.
Our
Development Team
The School Senior Management Team consists of the Principal, Finbarr O'Regan; Head of Primary, Ms. Jo Williams; Head of Secondary, Craig Patterson, and Deputy Head of Secondary, Nitin Padte. All members of this group have extensive experience in international schools which is reflected in the international organization of the school and the programs that the school operates. École Mondiale has also appointed a mix of highly qualified expatriate and Indian Heads of Departments and teachers. All our staff have been selected after an extensive search process to ensure the best fit for the programs that we offer.
